Crypt 2016: In The Shadows Of A Subterranean River

I was in the technician team with Siru and Charlie in charge of transporting artwork, supporting curation team and installation/ destallation. Crypt gallery was challenging space not only as an artist involved to the show but also as hanging team.

At first day, we started installation followed by artists' proposals. We numbered each section of Crypt space and filled in it as required by artists. Next day, people suggested that we could make audience explore the space rather than fill in each room. We used light and shadow for artworks to respond open area or dark corner.

For installation itself, we needed to work on very detailed manual for some artists. Meanwhile, some requested for random installation. We experienced that either way is not an easy job and installing artwork sometimes means more than hanging skills. Nevertheless, we’ve managed the process by ourselves and supported each other to make it work.

However, our technician skill leaves much to be desired. Antony and Johny who have the advanced technical skills helped us a lot with preparing tools and hanging the most challenging king-size bed.
