Practice I. Intimate space
A drawer is hidden space. As it opens, as it reveals its inside, it is not inside anymore. Its air integrates into outer space. According to Bachelard, drawers are hybrid objects, subject objects. “Like us, through us and for us, they have a quality of intimacy.”
I started with the vague idea to set a scene as a universe of intimacy on my work table. After having a tutorial with Anne-Marie in which we talked about making artwork related to corner, drawer or my pocket, a drawer as an intimate space as well as an object became the trigger for my practice.
For installation, I placed my painted drawer with other objects in order to look like camera obscura or TV set. I turned my attention to artwork as an object from this practice.
