Practice III. Alter space
Calder’s performing sculpture at Tate intrigued me.
Keep constructing elements of an object simple.
Intervene there like drawing on paper.
I picked his mechanics for my practice and altered the same size of three canvases. Then I painted light and shadow along their shape. It was undeliberate response on the surface. After a tutorial with Edwina in which she suggested keeping hypothetical light in my painting, I became aware of light element in my painting. I researched B&W surrealist photographs to see how light and shadow contributes to create metaphysical space.
